During 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He began building threshing machinery. The company later gained international recognition as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. Case had established themselves in the construction equipment industry by 1912. They became a manufacturer of road building machines including road graders and steam rollers. Case grew their construction machinery company through different acquisitions, starting with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their business by the mid-1990s to become the top producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction equipment.
During the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This corporation became responsible for advertising several of the top brands of agricultural and construction machines in the globe.
