Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They can run utilizing gasoline, LP gas or liquid propane, diesel or battery. LP is a clean burning fuel ideal for numerous uses. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled whenever they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that can be changed out when the equipment needs to be refueled.
So as to avoid possible serious injury, specific precautions must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. Like for instance: be sure to put on the appropriate safety equipment like safety glasses or goggles and heavy gloves. Make certain that you turned off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Then, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any kind of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened by hand only.
