Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescopic booms are large industrial machines designed with a straight boom arm that is extendable. The boom is typically situated on a rotating turntable. The telescoping boom lifts are typically used for jobs which need tasks to be done at heights that exceed other kinds of lifts. Like for example, workers could perform exterior repairs or renovations on medium sized buildings but utilizing these lifts instead of having the extra work of setting up a pulley system or an outside elevator.
The boom lift is only designed to hold one individual. These buckets are more suitable to particular jobs such as electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both outdoor and indoor tires and are available in gas or electric configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Beneath the scissor lifts work platform are the cross braces in which the machinery gets its name. When the braces move together it pushes the platform straight up. Because these machines must be positioned directly beneath the work site, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
The scissor lift typically has a bigger platform that enables the operator to control the lift to access a larger work area once the lift platform is raised off the ground. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of a concern with these models, as they should sit on flat ground in order to be used. Scissor lifts are great for being used for cladding or window installation, since they provide the workers with the desired mobility; they are also a good alternative for window cleaning applications or exterior repairs.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle normally utilized to lift workers for various tasks performed at heights. Generally, these kinds of trucks have a cab. It is here where the driver sits and operates the machine. There is a bucket for where the employee can stand along with an actuator arm for lifting the boom and a winch for lifting.
Cherry pickers can lift workers up to heights that were previously inaccessible. The cranes function is to raise both heavy supplies and equipment for one place to another. There are various kinds of cranes that could carry out various purposes. Both of these different types of machinery excel at different jobs and are suitable for particular applications and finishing particular jobs.
