The forklift is a material handling machine used to raise and move loads from one location to another. Every forklift component has a specific function. Different components could be utilized to move the load either vertically or horizontally.

Mast
The parts utilized to lower and lift the load is referred to as the forklift mast. There are different types of masts used for lifting loads to various heights: quad, simplex, duplex and triplex.

Power Supply
There are four different ways you could power a forklift: electric, gas, propane and diesel. The battery is situated in the cab beneath the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is underneath the back of the truck.

Cab
Located in the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the informational gauges and controls. The steering wheel, gas pedal, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all situated in the cab.

Frame
Carrying all the biggest forklift parts is the frame of the truck. This includes the counterweights situated at the rear which prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard that protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the driveshaft, axles and wheels.
