Types of Boom Lifts or Construction Lifts
A boom lift is a piece of equipment which allows employees to perform tasks without having to construct a scaffolding. They are used to do maintenance work, to work on elevated structures and are common machinery found in warehouse and factory settings too.
Boom lifts can usually provide wheeled and powered bases which can drive itself to the work location and have a platform on them to lift the employees. There are many different types of lifts and each one is suitable to different kinds of tasks and settings.
Bucket Trucks
Bucket trucks, that are normally known as "cherry-pickers", carry a long boom which has a bucket attached at the end. This bucket area is where a worker could stand. Usually, bucket trucks are utilized by utility workers and by landscapers. Landscapers usually utilize these equipment to trim trees.
Bucket trucks are equipped with a boom assembly which is mounted on a standard truck, and this means these lifts can travel on roads at regular traffic speeds. This mobility greatly increases the area they could efficiently service. This is especially important for power companies. Like for instance, a lot of these businesses use cherry pickers to raise employees up so they could work on and reach transmission lines. The buckets should be checked on a regular basis and insulated well as they are working near possible shock hazards.
Articulated boom lifts are also called "knuckle lifts", and consist of a work platform which is mounted on an arm that can bend so as to reach around obstacles. The base of the lift contains a turntable and can turn the lift in a complete circle. The base of the lift is mounted on wheels also for extra mobility.
Typically, the articulated boom lift is used for landscaping projects but is also useful for maintenance work on projects that are already finished. Projects which do not need easy access right beneath the jobsite. These lifts could be used for exterior electrical work and to repair piping, and hard to clean areas. Normally knuckle lifts are driven by the worker in the platform with the extended boom.
