In the year 1966, Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries. At that time, he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift which functioned on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was used to lower and raise the hoist. This device really impressed customers and hence, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, as the need for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, as the demand for new equipment to meet many applications grew, the company made itself known in numerous new markets. Like for instance, Genie went into making light towers, man-lifts, articulated booms, stick booms and telehandlers.
Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values because of the economic downturn in the beginning of the 2000s, when they partnered together with Terex. This company has a history obtaining machine manufacturers throughout the world who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold during the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
Due to the Genie name and its solid reputation within the workplace, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name as part of the Terex Aerial Work Platforms. This was only decided after the first few years following the sale. Thus, all Genie machines continue to be marketed under the Genie brand.
Genie takes pride in listening to their customers. The company is devoted to continually improving efficiency and quality and is also committed to minimizing waste. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on providing outstanding support. These are the very work disciplines which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the past decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality equipment.
The DC and Bi-Energy equipment offered by Genie offers emission-free, quiet operation even in the most delicate work settings. Where the machinery has to be driven significant distances, like within industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the power of a diesel-powered generator together with the advantages of a 48V DC machinery.
As opposed to any of the different types of aerial platforms, telescopic booms offer greater horizontal reach overall. These equipment are ideal for limited access areas in construction and other industrial settings. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been designed to provide utmost productivity. These equipment deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you need to be able to travel around the work site and job area.
