Various Kinds of Aerial Lift
Aerial lifts are a particular kind of heavy machinery that enables personnel to be raised into the air. These machinery can be used to perform maintenance and repairs in places which are high up in the air such as on roofs, near power lines and street-light fixtures. Similar to the majority of tools, there are different models of aerial lifts that could be utilized to complete various jobs. For the utmost safety, every type of different type of machinery needs right training and specific qualifications before using it.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are usually referred to as Genie lifts. They are considered the most basic type of aerial lift. These lifts are made of a platform which is lifted up utilizing pneumatic power and are mostly utilized indoors. Usually, scissor lifts are the safest type of lift models. When totally compressed, these scissor lifts are capable of being driven similar to large carts. Usually, when the platform is extended, they could not be driven for safety reasons. Before anyone can use these tools, employees must be certified as operators.
Boom Lifts
Compared to a scissor lift, boom lifts are much more complicated pieces of aerial lift machinery. A boom lift has a wide base to be able to keep the lift anchored. It uses a jointed arm that has a bucket on the end of it. There is a control box situated in the bucket that allows the operator to lower and raise the bucket. Since the arm of the boom is jointed, it can move from side to side too. The boom lift resembles a metal scorpion's tail. Usually, it is used in outdoor construction applications. The boom lift is considered to be more risky to run than scissor lifts, hence, operators have to be licensed individually for these kinds of lifts.
