How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when utilizing a scissor lift, as the ease of working and the lift basket's safety provides peace of mind when attempting to perform tasks that would have otherwise required utilizing the step of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this specific machinery make it the right option for performing tasks from heights.
The majority of scissor lifts are operated by batteries that are internally mounted in the base of the lift. These batteries need to be charged following a long shift or due to sitting after extended periods without use. It is an easy task to charge the batteries. This could be done without any particular tools or equipment and needs no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, position the equipment near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. Next, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the large red button found near the charger or the control box, inside the basket of the lift. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, older models will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
Next, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be sure you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and then plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. So as to prevent accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is purposely short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely happen.
