The lift truck is an important piece of machinery in most businesses that operate distribution centers, warehouses, storage handling and industrial plants. This great machinery, the lift truck is made of numerous components, including the essential carriage, the power source, the engine and the wheels. Lift trucks generally have various kinds of attachments too. The following are some of the most important parts of a lift truck.
Forklift Engine - the forklift truck is made with a power source at the back of the machine. Different types of forklift truck have different types of engine which require varying power sources. Like for example, a lift truck with an IC engine could have any of the following as its source of power: diesel, gasoline, LP gas or CNG gas. Electric motor forklifts receive their power from a battery or fuel cells.
Frame of The Truck - the base of the forklift truck and the most essential of all the lift truck parts is the truck frame. This forms the machine's core. All other forklift parts are connected to the base, like the mast, wheels, axles counterweight and overhead guard. Fuel and hydraulic fluid tanks may be part of the frame assembly too.
Counterweight Forklift Components - the counterweight is what allows the equipment to be balanced while carrying heavy loads. This component is made of heavy cast iron and is connected to the backend of the lift truck. The counterbalance balances the frame of the truck to prevent it from tipping over when a load is being lifted or carried on the front. The heavy lead-acid battery in an electric lift truck offers balance and can function as part of the counterweight.
The Cab Area - The cab is also known as the operator compartment. Lift trucks will sometimes have closed cabs whilst others will be open to the air. There are many components situated in the cab for operating the forks. The cab contains such essential components like the operator controls, steering wheel, pedals, seats, levers and switches. The dashboard contains operator readouts.
